Renter Friendly Upgrades For Your Home

Living in a rented home can put limitations on how much you can decorate and redesign your space, however, I truly believe that you should make every home that you live in unique to you, in some way!
It’s important to create a home that you enjoy returning home to every day.
In this guide, I’m breaking down renter-friendly upgrades that you can easily add to your home to create a space that you enjoy!
Before we get into this, it’s important to run past any changes to your home with your landlord so you know what is and isn’t allowed to be changed in your home. Not doing so, could get you in trouble!
Switch Out Boring Light Fixtures
One of the easiest renter friendly upgrades is to switch out boring light fixtures for eye-catching lights instead.
Make a bold statement with a chandelier or go for a modern look with pendant lighting.

Swap Out The Hardware Of Your Kitchen & Cabinets
One of my favourite renter friendly upgrades it to add new cabinet door handles and cabinet door knobs to spaces throughout your home.
This is a simple way to easily give your home a facelift and we have a huge selection on this site for you to choose from!

Paint a Bold Accent Wall.
You will definitely have to check this one with your landlord before going ahead but if you are able to, you can both paint a bold accent wall to make your home feel more vibrant.
Some landlords may ask you to paint it back to the original colour when you leave but you’ll have a great time whilst living there.
You can then style the wall with photos and prints that align with your vibe.

Experiment With Peel & Stick Wallpaper
If you’re not a big painting fan, peel and stick wallpaper is a great alternative and one of my favourite renter friendly upgrades.
There are so many fun colours and designs to choose from!
Peel and stick wallpaper is relatively easy to install, however, I would suggest doing it with a friend as it’s a lot easier with two people. Alternatively, you can outsource this to somebody who has done it before.

Try Different Flooring
Rugs can completely change how a space looks.
Whilst a large statement rug can make your home feel cosier, a smaller rug with a fun design can become a talking point of any home.
There are even options such as peel and stick tiling which can be removed easily and can completely transform kitchens and bathrooms.

Upgrade Kitchen & Bathroom Fixtures
Another fun way to easily update your home is to trade out boring brass taps for a new updated faucet.
I recommend hiring a pro as you’ll be dealing with your water supply but these simple changes make all of the difference to your home.

Key Takeaways on Renter Friendly Upgrades For Your Home
Those were all of my best renter-friendly upgrades. Which one was your favourite?
I’m completely biased but I think the simple changes such as changing out your door handles and door knobs and upgrading your kitchen and bathroom fixtures are easy, affordable and fun ways to update your home.
As a final reminder, make sure to check with your landlord before you make any of these changes as I don’t want to be the one who gets you in trouble!
