As we step into 2024, the world of interior design continues to evolve, and bathrooms are no exception.

The bathroom, once a purely functional space, has transformed into a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation.

So, if you’re decorating this area in your home this year, you’ll want to know which trends are officially out and which are here to stay.

That is why I have created this guide to the top bathroom trends of 2024. Keep reading to find out which trends made the cut.

1. Sustainable Choices

Just like with the living room trends for 2024 and the kitchen design trends for 2024, we’re seeing a huge influx in environmentally conscious purchases.

When redecorating their bathroom, people are opting for eco-friendly materials such as recycled glass and reclaimed wood.

There’s also a huge nod towards energy efficient lighting and using renewable materials.

It’s also likely that we’ll see a surge in people choosing to upcycle vintage furniture instead of purchasing pieces brand-new. I think the entire planet can benefit from this bathroom design trend sticking around!

2. Organic Tones

Following on from the sustainable notion, organic tones are popping up more and more.

Earthy tones, stone accents, and wooden features create an almost spa-like atmosphere that promotes relaxation and well-being.

This trend will be shown through large windows, wooden textures, and live plants. You can expect to also see a bunch of natural light being prioritised over the intense vanity lights that have become so popular.

I love, love this trend! Creating a calming oasis in your home is something I always enjoy seeing. It has such a huge impact on your mood and wellbeing and promotes positive habits too!

3. Marble, Marble, & More Marble

Marble centrepieces such as statement sinks and bathtubs made a huge impact in 2023 and this trend is only set to continue into 2024.

We can expect to see contrasting colours such as white bathrooms with deep toned marble countertops or even the additional monochromatic look.

This trend creates a polished, put-together atmosphere that is akin to the popular Parisian apartments and luxury vibe we all seem to be gravitating towards.

4. Geometric patterns

Instead of a simple, sleek flooring and walls, we're seeing a huge surge in geometric patterns for both flooring and bathroom tiles. Sometimes at the same time!

This adds an additional texture to the bathroom and contrasts great against simple countertops and furniture. It’s a great way to make an impact on a low budget.

5. Statement Lighting

In 2023, we saw a lot of low-level lighting for cabinets and drawers and with the “cosy look” everybody seems to be searching for, I was shocked to see that statement lighting is making a comeback for bathrooms.

However, instead of bright bold vanity lights, people are opting for unique and stylish lighting fixtures.

Chandeliers and pendant lights are set to take centre stage. These lights will attract attention and serve as a great way to illuminate even the smallest of spaces.

Or, if you love a vanity light, try swapping it for a more creative, stylish one.

Make sure to check out your relevant bathroom zones though as you might need an IP44 rated bathroom safe light.

6. Curved Edges

The era of sharp angles and straight lines is over and instead we’re all choosing curvier designs in 2024.

From freestanding bathtubs with organic shapes to rounded vanity units and mirrors, curves are making a strong impression in bathroom design.

This trend not only adds a touch of elegance but also creates a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere in the space.

7. Mixed Materials

This is a trend that you don’t even love or hate, however, it seems to be sticking around.

People are choosing to mix and match different materials in the bathroom to create a dynamic and visually appealing look.

Combinations such as marble and wood or metal and stone are transforming bathrooms in an almost futuristic style.

However, the verdict on this one is still yet to be determined with some people thinking that this bathroom style deters from the luxury appeal that people are gravitating towards.

8. Brass Elements

Just like the kitchen decor trends for 2024, brass and gold hardware seems to be the popular choice for minor details in the home.

From luxury brass cabinet door knobs to brass door handles, this is a trend I can always get behind.

Brass pairs exceptionally well with various colour palettes and it makes your home look more expensive. Brass is a versatile choice for those seeking a sophisticated bathroom aesthetic.

Also, making these minor changes in your home can add such a lux appeal without breaking the bank.

9. Minimalist Luxury

Less is more in 2024.  Let me introduce you to minimalist luxury.

Clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and a neutral colour palette contribute to a sense of calm and sophistication.

With this trend, you can expect to see floating vanities, frameless shower enclosures, and so much hidden storage you won’t know what to do with it.

This is the perfect blend of bringing together eco-conscious buyers who still want that grande bathroom.

10. Bold Black Accents

When it comes to the colour choice for bathrooms in 2024, it’s looking like it may be black.

From black faucets to matte black tiles or even black flooring, this daring choice seems to be everywhere.

Black accents are often paired with neutral tones or contrasting whites to create a striking visual impact while maintaining a sense of balance.

I will be interested in knowing whether this bathroom trend stays around later in the year as more and more people seem to be transitioning away from colourless homes!

Key Takeaways

The bathroom trends for 2024 are some of the most unique I have seen when researching the top interior design trends for 2024.

Whether you're drawn to the eco-friendly allure of sustainable design, the artistic flair of unique tiles, or the reliable brass hardware, there's a trend to suit every taste (and budget).

As always when it comes to redecorating your home, the key is to embrace the elements that resonate with your personal style and create a space that is both functional, inspiring, and perfect for you!
