A Rising Interior Design Trend: Soft Minimalism

One of the biggest interior design trends that is taking over homes all over the UK and US is soft minimalism.
But whilst some people adore how this makes your home feel calming and peaceful, others think it makes the space land and boring.
In this blog post, I’m delving into the world of soft minimalism And what it means if you want to incorporate this design trend into your home
What is soft minimalism?
Minimalism consists of clean lines cosy textures and warm neutral tones. Traditional minimalism has often been associated with monochromatic areas in your home with simple furniture and no real character.
Soft minimalism is an extension of traditional minimalism but introduces cosy textures neutral, softer colour palettes and more muted tones.
This trend is becoming increasingly popular as it allows homes to still have character whilst also being clutter-free.
These types of homes often feel modern still warm and welcoming - I’m a big fan!

How to Incorporate Soft Minimalism Into Your Home
Here’s how to incorporate soft minimalism into your home.
1. Declutter Your Space
The clue is in the title.
Whilst this trend doesn’t take minimalism too seriously it does require a clean and clear space with only furniture and objects within the home that serve a functional purpose.
So this means, you should take time to get rid of items that make the space feel overwhelming and cluttered.

2. Select a Neutral Colour Pallete
This trend embraces light neutral tones such as beige and soft whites.
Use these colours as a foundation for the room and then with the furniture, you can slowly incorporate dusty pastels or earthy colours. Just don’t overdo it!

3. Use Natural Light
A huge part of soft minimalism is opting for natural light which makes the home full more open and spacious.
Add mirrors to the opposite sides of windows so light is easily reflected and make sure that furniture doesn’t cover any windows in the space.
I would also opt for blinds instead of curtains as they tend to let more light in throughout the day.

4. Choose Furniture With Clean, Soft Lines
Minimalism incorporates furniture with curved edges that feel inviting and cosy.
The layout of the home is often very cohesive and if you can take the time to learn about feng sui, you should!

5. Add Simple Textures
The use of natural materials such as wool, linen and stone is a great way to add dimension to a home.
Chunky and knitted throws are often a go-to and modern coffee tables often become focal points.
