Is your home feeling drab and outdated? It’s easy to neglect our homes when we get caught up in the chaos of life!

And if we are thinking about redecorating our homes, we often think that it's going to be time consuming and expensive but that is so far from the truth!

Which is why I wanted to put together this blog post on how to elevate your home on a budget so you can create a space that you absolutely adore. Let’s get straight into it!

1. Throw Out What You Don’t Need

The first way to elevate your home on a budget will cost you absolutely nothing as it is throwing out anything within your home that you no longer need to maximise space.

A lot of the time, the reason why our home feels cluttered and overwhelming is because we have far too many things.

Deciding to throw things that you no longer use away makes more space in your home which therefore makes your rooms feel bigger.

I always like to use the method of finding out whether something brings me joy. For example, does the knack that has been laying out on your fireplace for years still bring you joy? Or can it now be donated?

You’ll be surprised at how many things you actually end up getting rid of during this process.

2. Add a Signature Scent

The next way to elevate your home is by creating a scent for your home.

You can purchase candles to do this or go the more natural route by using essential oils and boiling pots on the stove that contain cinnamon and oranges. This creates a scent that is carried throughout the entire home.

There are also other great options such as room sprays and diffusers which can keep your homes smelling great all month long.

Seychelles by The White Company is a classic scent that smells beautiful all year round.

3. Replace Your Outdated Hardware

Replacing the finishing touches to your home to make all of the difference to how your home feels.

Replacing door knobs and door handles can make your home so much more luxurious! We have a huge range of affordable door handles and door knobs and make sure to check those out!

4. Experiment with Colour

Colour is making a comeback and I am absolutely here for it! Whether it’s adding an accent wall, a patterned rug or a colourful piece of artwork, when you add colour back into your home, it can take it to the next level.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with colour. The more you do, the more comfortable you get with using different colours which can really bring your home to life.

5. Organise Your Home

The next way to elevate your home on a budget is to organise.

After you’ve done a huge clear out, going back in and organising everything (such as making sure that things within your kitchen are labelled and you know where everything is) can make your home feel so much smarter.

Not only that but even when you know where everything is, you feel far more inclined to spend time in that room and actually utilise it!

6. Perform a Front Door Makeover

Another way to elevate your home is to do a front door makeover!

We often forget about the exterior of our homes, but that’s what people often see the most!

During the fall, you can decorate with spooky decorations and pumpkins. During the winter, you can go all out with Christmas decorations.

You can even add door door signs, welcome mats and door numbers to your home which can be with you all year round. Or, even try just giving it a fresh coat of paint in a fun new colour.

7. Find Vintage Furniture

One of my favourite things about going vintage furniture shopping is that you find pieces that most people will not likely have that are unique to your home.

The entire experience can be so much fun and these pieces can elevate your home in the seamless way.

Simply, find a charity store near you and explore. You never know what you might find! Or, try Vinterior, which is an online vintage specialist with gorgeous products.
